Company: Encirc

Encirc has appointed Jonathan Culley as its new Commercial Director. The move comes as the business prepares for the retirement of Sales & Marketing Director Rob Turvey at the end of 2026.

Jonathan joined the glass, beverage and logistics company in July and will work closely with Rob over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities ahead of Rob’s departure.

Bringing more than two decades of commercial leadership experience across the drinks, packaging and FMCG sectors, Jonathan arrives at Encirc from Rankin Brothers & Sons, where he led the commercial function and laid the foundations for growth across the business.

Prior to that, he held senior leadership positions in the industry, building a reputation for developing high-performing teams, growing strategic customer partnerships and delivering long-term commercial success.

His appointment comes at an exciting time for the industry as manufacturers navigate evolving market opportunities, advance sustainability ambitions and adapt to changing regulatory requirements. He believes Encirc’s unique market position, 360 supply chain offering, strong customer partnerships and culture of innovation create an excellent foundation to drive continued growth and success.

Speaking this week, Jonathan said: “It was not an easy decision to leave Rankin Bros but the opportunity to join Encirc was incredibly compelling. Much of my career has been immersed in the glass industry.

“Encirc partners with some of the world’s leading brands and serves a diverse and highly competitive customer base. What particularly stood out to me was the company’s commitment to sustainability and its ambition to create more sustainable glass while building a resilient business that supports the communities in which it operates.”

Jonathan believes the future of the packaging sector will be shaped by organisations that can combine sustainability, innovation and strong customer partnerships. “Glass remains the sustainable packaging material of choice and offers one of the strongest circular value propositions of any packaging format,” he said.

“Backed by the strength and long-term vision of parent company Vidrala, Encirc has a clear roadmap for reducing carbon emissions and investing in sustainable growth. Together, these strengths place the business in a strong position to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

Since arriving at Encirc, Jonathan has been meeting colleagues across the business and engaging with customers as part of a structured transition programme alongside Rob.

What has impressed me most is the culture. Encirc places a genuine emphasis on people and that commitment has been evident from day one. Everyone has made me feel incredibly welcome.

Investing in people is essential to long-term success and I am excited by the journey the business is on. My first few months have been a whirlwind, but it has been fantastic working alongside Rob, benefiting from his experience and beginning to build relationships with the wider team and our customers.

I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping deliver continued success for our customers, our people and the business.

He brings a wealth of commercial leadership experience, deep industry knowledge, and a strong track record of building lasting customer partnerships. I would also like to recognise the outstanding contribution Rob Turvey has made to Encirc over many years. Rob’s leadership, dedication and commitment to our customers have helped shape the business we are today, and we look forward to working closely together over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.”

Rob Turvey will remain with Encirc until the end of the year, working alongside Jonathan to support the transition and ensure continuity for customers and colleagues.
