Endoline announces UTC skills partnership

Packing equipment specialist Endoline Machinery has teamed up with a local UTC in an effort to encourage a new generation into manufacturing.

The partnership with Central Bedfordshire University Technical College will see Endoline embark upon an apprenticeship scheme and work place programme this year.

Endoline, which supplies case erecting, loading and sealing equipment to manufacturers including Tulip, Kingsland Wines and Robert Wiseman, will support the UTC by providing two work placements in 2014, which will give students access to engineer’s technical input.

Simon Taylor, Endoline’s sales & marketing director, said the need to recruit young talent is key to the company’s future.

“As a company, and in common with the engineering sector as a whole, we are facing a rise in demand for automation today and the consequent need to enhance our skills and expertise,” he said.

“The younger generation offer the opportunity to develop fresh new talent, ensuring that our workforce has the practical skills and qualifications we need now and in the future.”

Lindsey Peck, support manager at UTC, added: “It is our aim to ensure that each student receives a closely guided education, developed with local employers, to achieve the skillset required to meet the needs of their chosen profession.”
