Farmer Malcolm Issac who founded Vitacress Salads over 50 years ago has sold his business to Portuguese firm RAR Group for £50 million.
The Hampshire firm, which also has farms in Dorset and Wiltshire, is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of prepared salads and is Europe’s leading producer of Watercress. It employs around 1,000 people and has an annual turnover of £81 million.
The company has assured staff that their positions will not be affected following the takeover.
