Third-generation roll forming manufacturer Ferret, Inc. has been recognised for its workplace safety performance after receiving a Safety Award of Honor from the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA).

The award forms part of the FMA’s Annual Safety Awards programme, which is open to all member companies and aims to highlight best practice across the metal fabrication sector. Sponsored by CNA, the initiative promotes higher safety standards by recognising manufacturers that demonstrate a sustained commitment to protecting their workforce.

The Safety Award of Honor represents the programme’s highest level of recognition and is reserved for companies that achieve a perfect safety record during the reporting period, with zero recordable workplace injuries or illnesses. As such, recipients are considered to be operating at the very top tier of safety performance within the industry.

Ferret’s President, Scott McMeekan, said the accolade reflects a deeply embedded safety culture across the business. “This means something because of the people behind it,” he said. “We’ve built a team that looks out for each other, pays attention to the details, and takes pride in doing things right.”

He added that maintaining this level of performance requires consistent effort across the organisation. “Maintaining a safety culture like this requires the effort of every person on our team,” McMeekan continued, highlighting the role of individual accountability and shared responsibility in achieving zero-incident operations.

Beyond compliance, McMeekan pointed to the wider operational benefits of a strong safety culture, linking it directly to manufacturing performance. “For our customers, this level of safety performance reflects the same operational discipline that drives consistent quality, on-time delivery, and long-term reliability,” he said.

Ferret’s recognition places it among a select group of manufacturers achieving the highest safety standards in the sector, reinforcing the importance of robust safety management systems as a foundation for operational excellence. The full list of 2025 award winners has been published on the FMA’s official blog.
