ARC Building Solutions (ARC), the Leeds-based manufacturer of passive fire protection and thermal insulation systems, has secured a significant investment from private equity firm LDC, part of Lloyds Banking Group, in a move designed to accelerate the company’s next phase of growth.
A market leader in certified cavity barriers — offering up to four hours of fire integrity — and a range of thermal solutions that support both fire safety and energy efficiency, ARC supplies technical systems that help residential and commercial developers create safer, more sustainable buildings. Its products are widely used across the built environment to meet increasingly stringent regulatory and performance demands.
Founded in 2008, the business has delivered sustained growth over more than 15 years, driven by rising demand for safety-critical and environmentally responsible construction materials. ARC’s management team, led by CEO Neil Weeks, will continue to steer the company as it expands production capacity, strengthens technical and customer support, and invests in enhanced systems to reinforce its position as a market-leading manufacturer.
The investment was led by LDC’s Yorkshire team, including Investment Director Will Scales, Partner and Head of Yorkshire Dan Smith, and Investment Executive Connie Smith. As part of the transaction, Scales and Smith will join ARC’s board as Non-Executive Directors. Industry veteran Kevin Sargeant will also join as Non-Executive Chair, bringing nearly three decades of board-level experience from roles at Volution, Ventilair Group, Nuaire, Flexicon and Aqualisa.
Specialist SME investor Newable, which has supported ARC since 2019, will reinvest alongside LDC to back the company’s continued expansion.
Commenting on the investment, ARC CEO Neil Weeks said the partnership will strengthen the manufacturer’s ability to scale while maintaining its high standards of safety and performance. “This is an important milestone in our mission to help the built environment deliver more safe and sustainable buildings,” he said. “We’ve known the LDC team for some time and are confident that with their backing, we will have the firepower and strategic support we need to scale our growth and continue to deliver for our customers.”
