Ford has become the first automotive manufacturer to be awarded the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation’s (ECARF) Seal of Quality.

The allergy-friendly interiors of six Ford models impressed the Foundation, following extensive TÜV Rheinland testing of more than 100 materials, fibres and components.

The cars were also fitted with high-performance pollen filters.

“Results showed that the materials used greatly reduce the risk of allergic reaction,” said ECARF.

“We are very proud that the first vehicles to gain TÜV and now also ECARF approval carry the Ford blue oval,” commented Dr Wolfgang Schneider, European governmental and environmental affairs vice president for Ford. “It is our responsibility to offer customers products that address the growing concerns about allergies. We aim to get as many as possible of our existing – and future – models certified to the TÜV standard.”
