The Manufacturing Advisory Service South East has launched a free carbon footprint calculator so that companies can improve their environmental performance and pass on their credentials to customers.
The organisation has created the simple-to-use tool in response to carried out by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) which suggested that business benefit from cost savings, improved green credentials, and better relations with investors and customers as a result of carbon reporting.
The Carbon Footprint Calculator calculates environmental impact and provides a free assessment report which explains the results and maps out practical steps for immediate improvements. .
David Caddle, programme manager, MAS South East, said: “Environmental drivers and a low carbon economy are key to the future success of UK manufacturing – manufacturers looking to go ‘leaner and greener’, utilising the benefits of responsible manufacturing, should take advantage of our Carbon Footprint Calculator ensuring that environmental issues remain top of the business agenda.
“Long term, sustainable growth can only be achieved by taking a close look at the environmental impact of a business and then taking firm action over waste reduction, energy saving and focusing on resource efficiency.”
