Rolls-Royce has confirmed it has received an engine order from Thai Airways worth $300 million (203 million euros).
The order of Trent 700 engines are set to power the airline’s eight Airbus A330-300s, and will be delivered from 2009 onwards.
The engine now controls 50 per cent of the Airbus A330 market.
“We have developed a strong relationship with Rolls-Royce since we started operating the Trent 800 (engine) in 1996,” explained executive vice president technical of Thai Airways, Khun Tummasak. “During that time, Rolls-Royce has demonstrated an excellent understanding of our business requirements which has helped them provide the highest levels of support for our operation.”
