Aerospace firm GE Aviation is to cut up to 150 jobs at its Bishops Cleeve site near Cheltenham.
The staff reduction is likely to be carried out over the next few months and has come as a result of “business conditions within the competitive aerospace market,” as explained in a company statement.
“In order to retain and build on our market position we need to reorganise our business structure to better interface with the market and reduce our cost base,” the statement continued.
The company has pledged to relocate staff where possible, and will first conduct a review of temporary and contracted workers in the hope that redundancies can be kept to a minimum.
