GE Oil & Gas begins recruiting for 100 jobs in subsea business

GE Oil & Gas’s Subsea Systems business is hosting an invitation-only careers event at its Nailsea subsea controls facility in Bristol this Saturday, April 20.

GE is is expanding its UK subsea production facilities and is recruiting for 100 new positions to meet demand for offshore oil and gas production equipment.

The company wants to fill 60 new jobs at its Nailsea Centre of Excellence for Subsea Controls and 40 additional jobs at its new Bristol subsea equipment hub in Aztec West, near Bristol.

Across its UK facilities, GE is developing complex technical solutions that will meet the challenges of safely and efficiently recovering deep-sea oil and gas reserves.

The job opportunities in its subsea business are in engineering, electrical, software, systems, project management and planning, along with supporting jobs in the company’s quality and commercial contract professional teams.

The company expects to receive at least 50 applicants who will listen to business presentations and tour the Nailsea site. Also, GE hiring managers will be on hand to answer questions and interview potential applicants. GE’s invitational career events are unique and only candidates who have the skill sets the company requires today or for future opportunities will be invited to attend.

GE’s Dean Arnison said the region offers a good source of appropriately skilled people.
“There is an abundance of talent of manufacturing and engineering people in Bristol and with the lack of oil and gas competition in the local area, we are finding that there are many industries with people who have transferrable skills, which we consider to be a strong fit in the subsea industry,” said Mr Arnison, subsea controls business leader for GE Oil & Gas.

“Events such as the Invitational Career Day… allows us to showcase our state-of-the-art facilities, the wide range of opportunities we offer, and the high-calibre people who already work for us.”

The career event is being held at GE’s facility at 2 High Street, Nailsea in Bristol between 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
