City of York Council has teamed up with the Manufacturing Advice Service (MAS) to help North Yorkshire manufacturers take advantage of multi-million pounds worth of new opportunities.
MAS will be hosting a free breakfast event on 7th October at the prestigious Nestle R&D Centre where it will explain how it can help small and medium sized manufacturers prepare to deal with larger companies and tap into exciting new projects across all sectors, including automotive, nuclear, and offshore wind and rail.
Expert advisors will be on hand to talk about getting your business supply chain ready, including up to 50% match funding for consultancy projects around process improvement, strategy, new product development and securing vital quality and industry accreditations.
They will also showcase other funding opportunities, such as GROW:OffshoreWind that is currently offering up to £500,000 grants to help firms with relocation, acquisition of capital equipment and R&D projects.
John Dodgson, MAS Advisor for York & North Yorkshire, explained: “We have successfully run a number of these events across the country as they offer a unique opportunity to find out how your business can get ready so they can win contracts with the big players in industry.
“We have access to a lot of market intelligence and contacts with a large number of original equipment manufacturers, so know when new tenders are coming and, importantly, what SMEs need to do to be in with a chance of winning one of them.”
James Alexander, Leader of City of York Council, added his support: “A diverse range of larger companies are increasingly looking to work with a local supplier base rather than sourcing overseas.
“MAS is England’s leading advice service for manufacturing and can make sure you are in a position to take advantage of potential supply chain opportunities on your doorstep and also overseas.
“North Yorkshire has a diverse array of manufacturers, printing firms and product design specialist. I’d strongly encourage them all to attend this event.”
Delegates will also get to hear from MM Microwave’s John McGreevy, who has first-hand experience of what it takes to become a supplier to big businesses like Honeywell, Rockwell and Thales.
The Managing Director will share – warts and all – how his company got in shape to become one of the industry’s most trusted suppliers.
