Harrisons has unveiled a new range of fully in-house manufactured wet wipes, marking a significant expansion of its UK manufacturing capabilities and the first time in the company’s 135-year history that it has produced wet wipes internally.

The Romford-based manufacturer, best known for its nonwoven wipe products, said the launch reflects recent investment in plant, processes and logistics, enabling the business to bring wet wipe production entirely under its own control in Britain.

The new B2B-focused offering includes Surface Disinfectant Wipes, Probe Wipes, Hand Sanitiser Wipes and Hand & Tool Wipes, which will sit across both the Harrisons Industrial Range and Harrisons Hygiene Range. The portfolio also includes plastic-free wipe options, aligning with growing sustainability requirements across regulated sectors.

All of the new products will be manufactured in the UK, supporting Harrisons’ customers across foodservice, janitorial, facilities management, industrial, aerospace, automotive and printing markets.

Managing director Stephen Harrison said the launch was underpinned by a deliberate push to strengthen domestic manufacturing capability. “Having invested in improving our manufacturing capabilities in the past year, we are confident that our wet wipes will provide customers with the same high levels of quality they expect from Harrisons, alongside the service and expertise that comes with our products,” he said.

The expansion follows Harrisons’ acquisition of the business and assets of Ecotech (Europe) Ltd last year, a move that added full wet wipe manufacturing capability to the group and significantly increased production capacity. Across its two UK sites, Harrisons now has total wipe manufacturing capacity in excess of 100 million square metres per year.

The newly launched products are designed to meet the performance and compliance demands of professional and industrial users. Surface Disinfectant Wipes are formulated for effective disinfection of hard surfaces and are fragrance-free. Probe Wipes are aimed at food safety applications, offering fast disinfection of temperature probes and small utensils, with options including 70% alcohol or alcohol- and quat-free formulations.

Hand Sanitising Wipes are positioned for high-traffic environments, offering effective protection against bacteria and viruses while being dermatologically tested for skin friendliness. Hand & Tool Wipes are designed for industrial cleaning applications, tackling oils, grease, paint and adhesives without the need for water or harsh chemicals, and are enriched with aloe vera to support skin care.

All wet wipes are rigorously tested in-house and independently audited to relevant EN standards by a UKAS-accredited laboratory, ensuring consistent performance and regulatory compliance.

The product launch is also supported by recent upgrades to Harrisons’ logistics infrastructure. The company now has access to 8,000 pallet spaces within a BREEAM-certified sustainable warehouse, strengthening its ability to hold stock and respond quickly to distributor demand. As a result, Harrisons is able to guarantee up to 12 weeks of stock availability.

Taken together, the investments in manufacturing, quality assurance and logistics position Harrisons to offer a more resilient UK-based supply chain at a time when many customers are seeking greater certainty around availability, compliance and sustainability.

For the business, the move represents more than a new product line. It signals a long-term commitment to expanding advanced manufacturing capability in the UK, reinforcing Harrisons’ role as a domestic producer serving critical hygiene and industrial markets.
