Honda’s apprentices have graduated from their four year maintenance and engineering apprenticeships.
Six apprentices have completed the car manufacturer’s course and are now qualified as multi-skilled maintenance engineers.
They received their awards from Honda UK Manufacturing’s Director of Business Administration Kim Ballamy at a ceremony held at the Swindon site.
Two special awards were given to Ruth Fenton and Michael Wojsznarowi for ‘outstanding academic achievement’ and ‘consistent outstanding performance in all areas’.
Michael Wojsznarowi, 29, has worked at Honda for the past five and a half years. With his apprenticeship complete, he is now looking forward to furthering his career with Honda as a maintenance engineer.
He said: “Both the college and my manager have encouraged me to achieve. It has been a steep learning curve requiring a lot of dedication but I feel I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime. I look forward to proving myself worthy of this award.”
Ruth Fenton said: “The program pushed me academically and practically, developing skills I could apply in the workplace. The project work encouraged teamwork and working with others. I am really glad that I chose to do my apprenticeship with Honda.”
Honda recruits around 10 new apprentices onto its apprentice programme each year. There are currently 44 members of staff undertaking the Honda scheme, which is open to anybody from the age of 17, including existing Honda staff.
The apprenticeship programme has been running since 1998 and a total of 114 apprentices have been trained to date.
