Hull manufacturing heroes honoured

A new event has been established to recognise manufacturers in Hull.

The Made in Hull event will take place for the first time in June as part of the 10th annual Humber Business Week.

Local people will be urged to nominate manufacturers for recognition according to the contribution they feel they have made to the local economy and community.

Event organiser James Pinchbeck said: “All too often manufacturing in the UK gets forgotten and Hull has some quite prestigious manufacturers and some very small artisan producers and we felt it would be right in Business Week to profile Hull as a manufacturing base as part of its creativity and innovation.”

Hull is home to Crown Paints and recently featured in news headlines as the location for Siemens’ new multimillion pound investment in UK-based wind turbine manufacturing.

Mr Pinchbeck is keen for both large and small businesses to be recognised in the event which he believes will contribute to a rekindling of a “spirit of manufacturing,” across the UK.
