Industrial Strategy: SMEs need to speak up

Posted on 1 Mar 2017 by Jonny Williamson

The Manufacturer's editorial director, Nick Peters talks to Steven Barr, managing director of Hennik Edge, about the vital need for small manufacturers to contribute their opinions to the government’s Industrial Strategy green paper.

The government’s green paper on a new Industrial Strategy offers business people the opportunity to submit their views on what a ‘proper’ – to use Theresa May’s word – strategy looks like.

The deadline for submissions is 17 April, 2017. Dr Steven Barr, managing director of the Hennik Edge consultancy, told The Manufacturer that not enough small companies are making their voices heard.

“It’s not often that we get these opportunities to change the that government’s thinking about our sector.”

Submissions should be made via the Department for Busiess, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) website.

This is the first in a regular series of podcasts and articles from Steven Barr. Check in every Monday for more.
