Canadian armoured vehicle manufacturer INKAS is set to more than double its North American production space after announcing the expansion of its manufacturing footprint with three new facilities across Canada and the United States.
The company said the additional sites, which are expected to be fully operational by 31 July 2026, will significantly increase manufacturing capacity and strengthen its ability to meet growing demand from customers across the defence, government, law enforcement, commercial security and specialist vehicle sectors.
The expansion includes approximately 42,000sq ft of additional production space in Toronto, a 200,000sq ft armoured vehicle manufacturing facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, and a new 31,000sq ft site in Fort Pierce, Florida.
According to the company, the investment will provide greater production flexibility and operational resilience while supporting current and future programmes spanning armoured vehicles, tactical platforms, drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and specialist-purpose vehicles.
The Charlotte facility has been selected in part because of its established workforce with expertise in armoured vehicle manufacturing, enabling the company to scale production more quickly without having to develop those capabilities from scratch.
David Khazanski, CEO of INKAS, said: “This expansion marks an important milestone in the continued growth of INKAS as a North American manufacturer.
“By adding significant production space across Canada and the United States, we are strengthening our ability to support customers with reliable, scalable, and mission-ready security and defence solutions. This investment reflects our confidence in the long-term demand for advanced protected mobility, unmanned systems, and specialized platforms.”
The company said the expanded manufacturing footprint forms part of a wider strategy to increase production capacity, improve operational resilience and enhance support for domestic and international customers through faster programme delivery and more efficient manufacturing operations.
Margarita Simkin, chairwoman of INKAS, added that the investment would also create skilled employment opportunities across North America.
“Beyond expanding our production footprint, this investment is about creating skilled jobs, supporting local economies, and building long-term manufacturing capability in North America,” she said.
“As these facilities come online, they will create opportunities for engineers, technicians, production specialists, and support teams across Canada and the United States. We believe that investing in people and manufacturing infrastructure is essential to building a stronger, more resilient security and defence industry.”
Founded nearly three decades ago, INKAS designs and manufactures armoured vehicles and security solutions, including armoured SUVs and sedans, tactical vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, cash-in-transit vehicles, UAVs and bespoke specialist platforms for customers worldwide.
