When it comes to the Internet of Things (IoT), surveys suggest that business is being impacted in a big way.
With the explosion in connected technology, IoT has become a mainstay of business now. It doesn’t matter what industry or sector, connectivity is part and parcel of life whether it’s making a payment in a store or monitoring a fleet of vehicles.
A survey by the Enterprise Strategy Group for Hewlett Packard Enterprise proves that the majority of firms are making the most of the IoT revolution. According to the survey 32% said that they already have an IoT initiative in place.
43% of respondents planning to roll out an IoT initiative in the next 12 to 24 months, with a further 17% saying that they are considering implementing an initiative.
The capabilities of sensors are increasing and the prices are falling, the scope and accessibility of connected technology is now greater than ever before.
With that said it is also worth noting that 6% of respondents have no plans to adopt IoT technology, which is surprising given the scope for using this technology. In manufacturing, the technology can allow for orders to be tracked, help to schedule maintenance and to better understand the way that customers are using products.
