Jaguar has been awarded ‘Best Open Top Car’ for its 2014 F-Type convertible sports car by the UK Car of the Year panel of judges.
The award is the latest in a string of honours for the F-Type, which have included World Car Design of the Year at the recent New York Auto Show.
Awarded by a panel comprising of UK automotive trade journalists from the likes of BBC Top Gear Magazine, Autocar and The Sun, the British automotive beat out competition from the likes of Audi, BMW and Lotus to take the prize.
UK Car of the Year committee managing director John Challen said: “The generations of drivers that missed out on the E-type have a new icon in the F-Type.
“The F-Type has succeeded in capturing the best elements of a classic – in a modern day package.”
The Jaguar Land Rover Group, which unveiled the F-Type to American audiences at last month’s Superbowl, also saw Prime Minister David Cameron open its new manufacturing centre in Solihull.
The automotive has also pressed ahead with plans to recruit 1,700 new workers at the West Midlands facility, with recruitment for the first 500 beginning last week.
