JCB school to go ahead

It has been announced that proposals for JCB’s planned £22 million academy school will not require government examination.

It had been suggested that the conversion of the Grade II listed mill which is to house the school would require a public inquiry and Government approval before it could go ahead.

However, examination by the Government Office of the West Midlands has proved sufficient.

Once completed, the school is expected to provide both academic and vocational skills education to 540 students aged 14 to 19, with a focus on manufacturing, engineering and commerce.
