Yorkshire healthcare manufacturer, JRI Orthopaedics is celebrating after being awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold standard.
The multi-award winning Sheffield company joins the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK who have achieved the benchmark of best practice in people management.
Employing 115 people, JRI Orthopaedics manufactures orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments at its advanced facility at Chapeltown.
Having previously held Investors in People Bronze, the firm’s managing director, Keith Jackson commented: “To be awarded Gold accreditation is a tremendous achievement and I am very proud of the outstanding team we have at JRI.
“This award not only reflects the calibre and commitment of the great people working here, but also the strength of the JRI culture.”
Winner of the coveted marquee prize at the 2015 Made In Sheffield Awards, JRI Orthopaedics was founded 45 years ago by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Ronald Furlong.
Wholly owned by the charity Orthopaedic Research UK, the company is committed to giving patients a better quality of life for longer by providing the best solutions in joint reconstruction, repair and regeneration.
It became the first in the world to use a hydroxyapatite ceramic (H-A.C) coating on hip replacements, a synthetic version of the natural mineral present in bones and, by perfecting the coating process, JRI was able to produce an implant that bonds biologically with the patient’s own bone.
