KitchenAid and Trojan Electronics enter partnership to close circularity gap

KitchenAid, the iconic home appliance manufacturer, has entered a strategic partnership with Trojan Electronics to facilitate its UK repair operations, enabling the brand to continue its electronic circularity and sustainability efforts.

KitchenAid prides itself on the longevity of its products such as stand mixers and food processors, some of which have been in continuous use for over a decade. Through the new partnership, Trojan will refurbish a wide range of its electrical items, bringing back appliances to their original working condition and significantly extending the lifespan of cherished items.

The Swansea-based circular electronic solutions company will also process KitchenAid’s UK returns from its direct-to-consumer sites. Trojan will provide a 10-day turnaround service for in-warranty consumer repair of all KitchenAid products as part of the new deal. Since going live in March 2024, over 1,800 products have already been repaired and returned to happy customers.

The circular solutions repair service is now available to all KitchenAid customers – covering its full range of products, including stand mixers, blenders and coffee machines. With a 98% repair rate, Trojan will refurbish products both in and out of warranty, preventing repairable appliances from being discarded and extending their operational life.

The KitchenAid brand continues to stand the test of time with its products remaining popular in homes around the world since 1919. Its iconic stand mixer, with its sleek and sophisticated design, is instantly recognisable from the Great British Bake Off kitchen, and its products are used by some of the world’s best chefs.

All parts of KitchenAid’s products, across its ranges, can be replaced to create a fully working unit, including all 100+ of its bright and bold-coloured cases. Trojan provides a full UK repair service on behalf of KitchenAid, and its parent company Whirlpool Corporation, to restore items back to working condition. In warranty, items are repaired on behalf of the brand, and items out of warranty are processed directly by Trojan. The result is an entirely circular solution for all customers, expanding the already long life of KitchenAid products.

Ahead of the partnership, three of Trojan’s senior engineers travelled to KitchenAid’s European HQ in Belgium to undergo comprehensive training. In June, the team will also be heading to Estonia for training on KitchenAid’s new automated home espresso machines. Trojan will act as an extension of the KitchenAid team in the UK reducing the distance that repaired goods need to travel.

James Rigg, CEO at Trojan Electronics, said: “We share KitchenAid’s ambition to create electrical items that stand the test of time. Often kitchen appliances are replaced in their entirety when one small part stops working – we want to stop that and show that well-built items can be repaired and used for years to come. For over twenty years, we’ve helped businesses become greener and saved countless items from needlessly going to landfill.”

“We already repair and refurbish over 300,000 items each year from a diverse range of manufacturers, and adding KitchenAid to our list of partner companies marks a significant milestone in our journey.”

“KitchenAid is an iconic brand that designs and builds products that are made to last. Our partnership allows them to extend this promise to their customers and ensure that they continue to enjoy their appliance.”

“This partnership demonstrates to the world that going through a third-party repair and refurbishment service doesn’t have to be a disjointed experience. Our team has trained at the KitchenAid European HQ, learning directly from the source. The experience has given us a unique insight into the inner workings of the global manufacturer, and we’ve come away knowing that KitchenAid clearly trusts us with their products and customers.”

Irene De Beni, Legal Manager at KitchenAid, said: “For over 100 hundred years our customers have trusted our products because they know that they last. The old adage that a KitchenAid is for life is now an undisputable statement. Whether your product is in or out of warranty, our trusted partners will ensure your product remains fully working.”

“We know we have a responsibility to our customers to not only become as sustainable as possible but also ensure our products continue to provide quality of when they were first purchased. Working with Trojan Electronics will ensure we uphold both these commitments.”
