A South Yorkshire laser cutting and engraving specialist is showcasing its skills at design exhibition Decorex International in London.
Barnsley-based Cutting Technologies is among 14 designers collaborating with Material Lab to present its craftsmanship as part of an installation named The Future of Luxury Surface Design.
Material Lab, which is run and funded by tile manufacturer Johnson Tiles, aims to bring some of the finest surface design studios and designers together to celebrate the very best in luxury surface design.
Each of the 14 carefully chosen designers will be creating a unique piece especially for the Material Lab showcase, which forms part of the wider Decorex International event.
Designers featured by Material Lab include CUSTHOM, Gemma Kay Waggett, Giles Miller Studio, Studio Moon and Anthony Roussel.
The designers will incorporate materials from leather hide, gilded glass, high end metal effect finishes, engineered stone, chalk and charcoal textures in their panels.
Cutting Technologies has chosen to laser cut and engrave its surface panel on 5mm thick Perspex in Slate Grey from the naturals range.
They will also be helping some of the other designers to create their masterpieces for the exhibition and collaborating with Material Lab to produce bespoke signage and decorative panels to adorn the installation.
This includes 2.2 metres stainless and mild steel panels which are laser engraved to give details of each designer and their work.
Jane Robinson, co-founder, director at Cutting Technologies, and TM Top 100 judge 2015, commented: “Laser cutting and engraving has grown considerably since we started and the large scale of these panels are something which has become second nature to us, particularly when it comes to interior design.
“We are delighted to be working with Material Lab and presenting our work at Decorex, as well as helping some of the other designers create their panel designs.
“There is some really amazing interior design work being created at the moment and Decorex is the place to be to appreciate that. We’re very excited to be involved in one of the most prestigious and inspiring events in the design calendar.”
Decorex International will be held at Syon Park in London from September 21 to September 23. For more information or to book tickets visit: www.decorex.com
