Lexus has been named top automotive manufacturer in the 2013 Auto Express Driver Power survey for driver satisfaction after feedback from 45,000 UK motorists.

The Japanese automotive company, who had previously finished runner up in the survey for the last four years, beat off competition from Skoda in second place to take the accolade.

Skoda did however claim victory for the UK’s most satisfying car to own for the second year in a row with the Yeti and Superb models taking the top two spots in the category, with the Yeti holding an overall satisfaction rating of 92.65%.

Lexus won the top spot after customers praised the quality of its cars, some Richard Balshaw, the company’s division director, put down to the brand’s “special quality.”

“We’re delighted to have earned this award again; the competition becomes tougher every year,” he said.

He added: “Lexus came to the market promising to deliver a new and better customer experience, and we’ve stayed true to that promise by creating cars that deliver luxury, style, reliability and a great driving experience.”

Mr Balshaw also confirmed the upcoming release of the IS sports saloon this summer will offer the option of full hybrid power for the first time.
