A new report into agility among manufacturing organisations has revealed how many businesses have an appetite for digital transformation but are being hamstrung by resource and budget constraints.
The 2024 Manufacturing Agility Assessment, the latest installment in The Manufacturer Agility Assessment series in collaboration with HSO, explores how manufacturers are managing a new set of challenges—whether driven by shifting market dynamics, supply chain disruptions, rising operational costs, or digital transformation efforts.
This year’s report also highlights how many manufacturers have improved their planning processes, adjusted their supply chains and further invested in sustainable practices.
Speaking about the report, James Devonshire, News Editor for The Manufacturer and report author, said: “The ability of manufacturers to adapt to changing conditions never ceases to amaze me. We saw it during the COVID-19 pandemic, then again through the global semiconductor shortage. Now we’re seeing it in the face of changing market dynamics, rising operational costs and ongoing supply chain pressures.
“If you want to discover how manufacturers are taking advantage of technology and sustainability to build resilience and agility, I highly encourage you to download the 2024 Manufacturing Agility Assessment.”
Matt Birtwistle, manufacturing industry director at HSO, added: “Among what we’ve learnt this year is that manufacturing organisations are seemingly going through a period of consolidation, which sees them avoiding spinning too many project plates at once and overextending themselves.
“Nevertheless, manufacturers are very conscious of the impact projects will have on their teams and are asking for clear assessments of the effort required.”
