Food manufacturer Mars has brought back its social media recruitment initiative for a second year in order to attract a new batch of university graduates.
Mars’ Tweetshop campaign, which began in January, is designed to engage with students through nationwide university tours and a series of competitions.
Under the @MarsGradsUK Twitter handle, it has sent out cryptic clues in a ‘Hide and Tweet’ completion, asking students to guess where the Tweetshop is hiding.
The manufacturer of food, petcare, chocolate, confectionery and gum runs its graduate programme annually across seven different areas of the business, including European Procurement, Engineering and R&D.
The @MarsGradsuk feed will also provide students with information on the graduate scheme across the different business segments and retweet the best student tweets.
Andrew Sharp, future talent manager, Mars UK said: “Our 2013 Tweetshop campaign was a world first and we were very excited by the impressive response we got from students when it was launched.
Laurence Hooper, seasonal brand manager at Mars Petcare UK, said signing up to Mars’ Facebook and Twitter pages gave him a better insight into the company.
“When the Tweetshop came to my campus I jumped at the opportunity to find out even more about the range of careers available and the Mars culture,” said Hooper, who joined the Mars Management Development Programme after the Tweetshop visited his university last year.
“I’m now on my first formal placement of the Mars Management Development Programme and am excited about the opportunity to work in different fields within Mars.”
TM will be running its social media for manufacturers event across the UK in 2014. For details on dates, locations and how to attend, please visit the website.
