Inside Industry, the factory visit programme, held its 100th event this month at North Yorkshire-based Lambert, a specialist in automated solutions for the FMCG and medical sectors.

The programme, which was devised by the Manufacturing Advisory Service Yorkshire & Humber (MAS Y&H), was set up in 2006 to give manufacturers in the region a valuable insight into how their peers use specific tools and strategies to improve performance.

Robin Watson, regional director, MAS Y&H, said: “We are delighted with the success of the Inside Industry programme. Working with other local manufacturers to pool knowledge and resources has never been more important than in these current challenging times.”

Since the programme began, 1,500 people (ranging from senior managers and directors to team leaders and shop floor staff) from 750 companies have taken part in it. The visits, each of which have a defined business improvement theme, include an in-depth presentation of the host company’s specialist area, a full site tour led by staff of the host company, a Q&A session and networking opportunities.

Businesses which have hosted Inside Industry visits include Euroglaze (Barnsley), Gripple (Sheffield), AW Hainsworth (Leeds), WT Johnson (Huddersfield), Saint Gobain (Eggborough) and Piper’s Crisps (Barton on Humber).
