MasterMover, the market-leader in electric tug solutions and innovative handling solutions, has won The Manufacturer MX Award for Product Innovation & Design.

Organised by The Manufacturer in partnership with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), The Manufacturer MX Awards are widely considered the gold standard in manufacturing awards and are the only peer-reviewed and judged programme of their kind for UK manufacturing.

Headquartered in Derbyshire, UK, MasterMover is a world-leading manufacturer of electric tug and tow tug solutions, designed to improve safety and operational efficiency when moving heavy-wheeled loads. MasterMover focuses on innovation, research and development to provide the widest range of electric tug products on the market. With businesses in France, Germany and North America, the Midlands-manufacturer serves an expanding global customer base, across sectors such as industrial manufacturing, aerospace and energy. This year, MasterMover was shortlisted for two MX Awards – Product Innovation & Design and International Trade.

The awards illustrate and honour a true cross-section of UK industry excellence, rigorously assessed across 11 categories. The gala dinner at The Exhibition Centre Liverpool on 15th November was attended by 500 industry leaders. The awards were the culmination of an intense three-month judging period, where experienced industry experts visited factories across the UK to benchmark the companies’ performance.

James Jones, Partner and Director at MasterMover, said of the win: “We’re incredibly proud to have won the award for Product Innovation & Design. The MX Awards truly mark the gold standard in the industry, and for MasterMover to be finalists alongside some of the most respected names in manufacturing is a huge accolade. Winning the Product Innovation & Design award is an incredibly special moment for us, recognising our cultural commitment to continuous innovation and product development. Innovation has always been part of DNA and for MasterMover to be recognised amongst such pedigree brands and manufacturers is fantastic. We’re very proud of our fantastic team!”.

The Manufacturer Managing Director, Grace Gilling, commented: “The winners of The Manufacturer MX Awards 2023 should be incredibly proud. It is an extremely rigorous judging process, with the category criteria peer-reviewed to ensure that finalists are measured against agreed industry best standard, and the calibre of the finalists means the competition is incredibly fierce. We are incredibly proud to be able to showcase the amazing companies across the full spectrum of UK manufacturing.”

The award represents a significant achievement for MasterMover. Having previously won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade, in 2021 and the King’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation earlier in 2023.

Andrew Owen, Partner and Director at MasterMover, commented: “Following on from being awarded the King’s Award for Innovation earlier this year, receiving this recognition in the Innovation category at the MX Awards demonstrates the success of MasterMover’s growth, our culture of innovation and the value we deliver to our customers and the industry. We’re very proud to have received this recognition. Innovation and custom engineering have been part of our DNA at MasterMover since the very beginning and it’s these values that will continue to drive us forward, delivering more innovative and advanced solutions to our global customer base”.

The Product Innovation & Design award does not focus on one single innovation but looks at how a culture of innovation has been created in an organisation, covering the creation of new or improved products and how businesses strive to meet the changing needs of customers. With a strong heritage of innovation stemming back over 25 years, MasterMover’s culture of innovation has seen the manufacturer bring new, trailblazing solutions to market.

MasterMover continues its pioneering work with the creation of its patented MultiLink system that allows multiple electric tugs to work together under the control of a single operator – by remote control – to move even the heaviest and largest of loads. The electric tug solutions provider also offers a range of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) – an area of the business expected to rapidly expand as customers look for more efficient ways to move goods.

Grace Gilling expressed her admiration for the winners of The Manufacturer MX Awards 2023, stating, “The exceptional achievements of the winners reflect their dedication and adherence to manufacturing excellence. Our rigorous judging process involves peer-reviewed category criteria, ensuring that finalists are evaluated against the highest benchmarks. The fierce competition among these outstanding finalists underscores the remarkable calibre of companies represented across the entire spectrum of UK manufacturing.”
