Metflex buys factory site

Metflex, manufacturers of precision moulded rubber components, announced the purchase of its Great Harrwood site this week.

Metflex, which specialises in supplies for the gas, water, automotive and audio markets, commenced manufacturing in London in 1919, but moved to the north in 1941 after their factory was destroyed, and has remained there ever since. The purchase of the site highlights Metflex’ commitment to the local area in Lancashire. John Holland, managing director, said; “When we moved to the site in 2010 we initially leased the premises and ensured that we had the opportunity to buy at some point in the future.

He highlighted his staff, saying “[they] have shown much dedication to this organisation, with 11 employees reaching either 25 or 35 years of service this year. This, alongside our level of confidence in the economic climate has aided our decision to make this purchase to safeguard the future of Metflex in Great Harwood.”

2014 is proving to be the most prosperous year for Metflex in it 95 year history. Sales are expected to reach £10m, exceeding 2013’s performance of £8.5m.

Metflex’ recent success is thought to be reliant on its strong sales in the global gas meter and subsea markets. The company has plans to develop further.
