Century Recycling, a Zaragoza-based company from southern Mexico, will invest $50m to build a 98,000-square-foot aluminum recycling and manufacturing plant in Mission, Texas.

The project, located just outside the Mission Expressway Business Park on South Conway Avenue, is being called one of the largest investment projects in the city’s history.

During construction, the plant is expected to employ approximately 240 workers, and once operational, it will create around 70 full-time skilled positions, including engineers and technicians. City officials emphasized the economic impact of the investment.

“We’re super excited about having them in Mission to create jobs, invest in the community, and generate revenue,” said Teclo Garcia, CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation, shortly after the announcement on November 13.

The new facility will process aluminum scrap to produce secondary aluminum, supporting industries such as automotive and aerospace. Local leaders say the project not only strengthens Mission’s industrial base but also positions the city as a growing hub for advanced recycling and manufacturing in western Hidalgo County.
