MG sustains dramatic growth in 2014 as the Midlands-based manufacturer doubles 2013 total sales volumes in just the first five months of the year.
MG’s 90th anniversary year continues to be one of success for the British marque, as figures announced by the SMMT for May reveal MG once again leads growth for the UK automotive industry; posting an astounding 1754 per cent increase month on month, and an exceptional 842 percentage increase year to date compared to this time last year.
Sales for the manufacturer continue to improve as MG posted recording breaking sales every month so far in 2014, including the best Q1 sales in the company’s history. This year is already MG’s best sales year, surpassing previous best sales success in 2012 where 782 units were sold.
Success has been due to the recent launch of the MG3 supermini and expansion of the MG6 diesel powertrain family, with a new 129g, 350 Nm performance diesel recently added.
Since November 2013, 20 new MG dealerships have opened in south Sheffield, Dudley, Gloucester, north Sheffield, Woking, Spalding, Barnes in West London, Newcastle, Leicester, Harrogate, Doncaster, Northampton, Swindon, Norwich, Falmouth, Brecon, Maidstone, Wareham on the Purbeck peninsula, Oxfordshire and Exeter. Further new dealer appointments will be announced shortly, as MG plans to have around 80 sales dealerships on board by the end of the year, these will be supported by a further network of MG after sales specialists.
