Following its rejection of the latest Kraft bid last week, Cadbury could soon be set to face a new takeover approach from a third party.
The press reports today that it is understood US firm Hershey – which makes Cadbury products in the States – could potentially launch a combined bid with Italian spoilers Ferrero.
Last week Cadbury rejected Kraft’s latest bid, labelling the £9.8bn offer ‘derisory’. The unions representing Cadbury staff want it to remain independent as they fear jobs will be lost through economies of scale if an international buyer prevails.
