Springfield (NE) Limited – which counts Nissan and Dräger Safety as two of its clients –only expanded into new premises on the Chilton Industrial Estate two years ago after investing in high speed Wi-Fi technology.

Now the company has increased its floor space to 20,000 sqft after taking on a further industrial unit, and has invested in a new website to capitalise on its growing reputation within the global marketplace.

The new website and earlier Wi-Fi solution was provided by Clive Owen Technology Services – the IT-arm of Clive Owen LLP, based in Darlington.

Springfield designs and manufactures bespoke machinery, fully automated special purpose machines incorporating pneumatics, hydraulics and robotics with full PLC control systems and jigs & fixtures for a mixture of industries, including the automotive and heavy goods markets.

The latest expansion into the new unit follows another successful year for the engineering firm, which was started in 2005 by husband and wife team, Colin and Marion Milsom.

It now employs 20 staff – an increase of 25% since 2013 – and has a turnover in excess of £1m.

Marion Milsom commented: “We wanted the website to showcase what we can do and to give us a more global presence.

“We come up with the designs in house and then from the concept we follow it through to the fully automated machines which we install. We’re expanding into more production work and we’re currently looking for new staff to join our design team.
