The board of directors of PACCAR, the US truck and diesel engine manufacturer, has elected Ron Armstrong to the position of president, effective January 1, 2011.
Mr Armstrong has spent 17 years at PACCAR and is currently the executive vice president. He joined the company in 1993 and has had senior management roles with Peterbilt, PACCAR Financial Services and DAF Trucks. He was also PACCAR’s vice president and controller.
Jim Cardillo will be retiring as PACCAR president in December 2010 after more than 20 years with the company. He is credited with making several important contributions to PACCAR’s success.
PACCAR is a global company involved in the design, manufacture and customer support of light, medium and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. It is represented in the UK by Leyland Trucks.
The Lancashire-based firm is the group’s established centre for light and medium truck design, development and manufacture and has won the MX Manufacturer of the Year award from the IMechE for two consecutive years.
PACCAR also designs and manufactures advanced diesel engines, provides financial services and information technology, and distributes truck parts related to its principal business.
