New technology: Atlas Copco vacuum pump system

Posted on 25 Sep 2012

Atlas Copco, a compressed air technology company, has launched a GV oil-sealed rotary screw vacuum pump system.

The pump is a natural step for Atlas Copco, and allows it to apply its expertise in the design and manufacture of compressed air products to vacuum pump systems.

Suitable for ‘rough vacuum’ between 0.5mbar and 500mbar, the vacuum pump features an oil-sealed rotary screw to enhance performance and reduce operating costs.

Thanks to its modulating valve, fitted at the pump inlet, the capacity of the pump can be matched to actual demand. This not only minimises the system’s vacuum level fluctuations, but also operates the pump at the lowest possible energy point.

Due to this modulating valve, the pump has to stop and start less frequently, leading to less wear and maintenance and increased reliability.

Atlas Copco’s GV vacuum pumps deliver capacities between 20 and 5000m3/h, which means they can be applied across a range of manufacturing sectors, from printing and packaging to plastics, electronics, woodworking, bottling and canning.

The pump is quiet while in operation, meaning it can be installed close to the point of use. However, they can also be installed as a remote installation as part of a centralised vacuum system.
