The logistics company has won a two-year contract, worth £3m, with Nestlé Waters to import bottled water from Europe while meeting Nestlé’s goals to reduce CO2 emissions.
Nestlé Waters UK sources, bottles and distributes mineral waters from a variety of natural locations to consumers around the world. Its portfolio in Europe includes a wide range of brands, including Buxton Water, Vittel, Perrier and San Pellegrino.
By developing an integrated intermodal and road transport service, Norbert Dentressangle offers a higher payload throughput, which significantly cuts the number of road deliveries, providing both cost savings per ton and environmental improvements.
Commenting on the new agreement, Frazer Crawley, distribution manager at Nestlé Waters UK, said: “As well as being a cost effective delivery service from our European bottling points to the UK, the solution Norbert Dentressangle offers also meets our environmental objectives to minimise road miles as much as possible and reduce our supply chain carbon footprint.”
Norbert Dentressangle will make around 900 scheduled collections and deliveries a year, moving full trailer and container loads at fixed times. This will involve collecting Vittel from the eponymous town, Perrier from Vergeze, in France, and San Pellegrino from two sites in Italy, and transport to the UK.
Nestlé Waters UK started production at its new factory in Buxton, which also includes a warehousing facility that allows the company to reduce its energy output, in May.
