Northern Irish blinds manufacturer Bloc Blinds has made its products available in retail for the first time, as part of John Lewis’ pledge to place more business with UK manufacturers.
Customers will now be able to buy Bloc’s unique ‘Fabric Changer’ feature which allows homeowners to replace their blind designs as often as they like.
John Lewis, which launched its ‘Made in the UK’ initiative in 2011, pledged its support for UK manufacturing by setting a two-year 15% growth target for sales of UK made goods in its shops.
Bloc Blinds’ managing director Cormac Diamond said the company’s entry onto the high street is a culmination of its commitment to design development.
“We have worked hard to develop our innovative product range over the years, while continuing to invest in Bloc as a brand,” he said.
“As our first step onto the High Street we wanted to ensure that we looked for the right retail opportunity one that would appreciate our high level of innovation, and I’m pleased to say John Lewis saw our potential.
Mr Diamond, who founded the company in 2009, added: “Our manufacturing capabilities combined with our innovation and market expertise means that we are well positioned to deliver as a new category brand.”
