Connect Medical Systems (CMS), the Oldham-based manufacturer of medical piped gas system components, has secured funding to help its targeting of Asian markets.

The company, which employees 18 staff, intends to expand on its strong client bases in the Middle and Far East by targeting India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

It produces equipment to facilitate the distribution and control of medical gases through hospital and lab environments.

David Wood, who co-founded CMS in 2007 with Adrian Todd, said the challenge of obtaining funding to finance growth was a challenging process before NatWest lent the required sum.

“As a business, we were hugely excited by the growth opportunity and moving into new regions however financing growth is always challenging.

“We needed to raise the capital to build up our specialist team as well as increase our materials flow,” adding that support from NatWest transformed CMS as a business.

CMS has also received support from UK Trade and Investment, which provided assistance with contacts in markets such as Vietnam and Burma.
