Jaguar Land Rover has received more than 8,000 applications for the 1,000 new jobs announced this month at its Solihull plant.
The new jobs are required to fulfil growing orders for the company’s Range Rovers, especially the Evoque model.
The first batch of new recruits will start work in December and the balance will roll out over the next six months to June 2012. The majority of the positions are for skilled manufacturing jobs, including engineering technicians, machine operators and maintenance.
Yesterday, Prime Minster David Cameron visited the new McLaren Production Centre in Woking, the new manufacturing site for the McLaren MP4-12C. The brand new facility will have created 400 jobs at full capacity.
