Automotive manufacturer Volkswagen has announced record sales of 6.2 million cars for 2007.
Profits increased by 40 per cent to 6.15 billion euros (£4.7 billion).
The company, responsible for such brands as Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini, attributed its success to rising demand in Asia and eastern Europe and improved productivity.
Growth is expected to continue during 2008 with several new car models set for release.
