Technology giant PTC has acquired UK firm Atego, a developer of model-based systems and software engineering applications.

The acquisition of Cheltenham-based Atego enhances PTC’s portfolio of product lifecycle management (PLM) and application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions.

By acquiring Atego, Massachusetts-headquartered PTC believes the move strengthens its support for customers’ systems engineering initiatives with powerful modelling capabilities.

Atego, which has products used by Alstom Transport, Atlas Elektronik and Peugeot, produces Model-Based Systems Engineering software, designed to connect a range of functions including engineering, architecture modelling and physical product definition.

“For PTC customers, there is increasing importance for multifunctional teams to work in concert while modeling the interdependencies of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components,” said Brian Shepherd, EVP enterprise segments, PTC.

“Atego extends our existing ALM and PLM technologies and directly supports customers’ needs to integrate multiple systems engineering disciplines.”
