A Buckingham-based interior systems manufacturer is expanding its production capabilities after investing in a new powder coating paint line, aimed at meeting rising demand from the construction and fit-out sectors.
QIC Trims, which produces metal components for projects such as Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena and Gymshark’s Solihull headquarters, said the upgraded system will speed up production while reducing waste and removing hazardous chemicals from its processes.
Efficiency and sustainability gains
The new paint line can recover and reuse up to 90% of powder coating material, halve colour-change times and recycle water, saving around 1,000 litres per week. The company said the improvements will enable faster turnaround times for clients while cutting environmental impact.
The system also adopts a chrome-free process, eliminating the use of hexavalent chromium ahead of tighter UK and EU regulations. QIC Trims said this move improves safety, ensures regulatory compliance and delivers more consistent coating quality across projects.
Supporting growth in construction and fit-out
With more than 30 years’ experience in aluminium trims, partition systems and bespoke architectural metalwork, the firm works with architects, contractors and installers on large-scale developments, including retail and education sites such as Nike’s Westfield store and LSE’s Holborn campus.
Managing Director Peter Jones said the investment would help maintain delivery performance as demand grows: “Our business is built on precision, quality and service – delivering exactly what our customers need, when they need it.
“This new paint line allows us to take that even further, improving efficiency while cutting waste and operating more safely.”
Backed by finance partner
The upgrade was supported by an asset finance package from Lloyds, which has worked with QIC Trims for several years as the company expanded its operations.

QIC Trims said the enhanced flexibility of the new paint line will also allow it to introduce new product lines, supporting further expansion in the construction and fit-out markets.
