The optical products manufacturer celebrated the opening of its new plant in Feldkirchen, near Munich with a ‘Technology Day’ for customers and business partners.
Guests from Germany and other countries were invited to look around the new site and hear specialist talks on a variety of subjects, including industrial manufacturing, medical and life sciences, research and development and defense and aerospace.
After moving from its Rodenstock site in downtown Munich, the company now has modern premises extending over some 12,000 m2 at its newest site. Feldkirchen is in close proximity to the ‘Neue Messe München’ trade fair center. 280 Qioptiq employees currently work in Feldkirchen.
“The move represents an essential step into the future for Qioptiq,” says Volker Brockmeyer, Qioptiq executive vice president. “The new location offers the best prerequisites for us to drive our technological developments forward.”
Qioptiq is hoping that its femto-laser technology could open up new possibilities in the field of ophthalmology after some early successes in cornea and cataract surgery.
