Racking manufacturer transforms 140,000 square foot warehouse

British racking and storage manufacturer RediRack has installed a 21,000 pallet position racking system at Dalepak, Northampton.

Dalepak, a warehousing and order fulfillment company, took ownership of the new-build Northampton facility in January 2012.

The facility has 12 dock level doors and is 12.5 metres high to the eaves.

Approached to design and install a bespoke pallet racking system for Dalepak, Redirak has now delivered 21,000 pallet positions and fitted the warehouse with two mezzanine structures to offer additional storage space and contract packing facilities. The mezzanine was built by RediRak’s sister company, RediFloor.

RediRack designed the warehouse on a narrow isle principle and the facility now boasts 30 double runs of racking – each 56m long.

Dalepak uses Bendi articulated forklift trucks to perform picking tasks in the facility.

RediRak’s design for Dalepak includes a number of bespoke health and safety features and features to reduce the cost of racking damage – such as ‘sacrificial legs’. As a standard safety design concept, RediRak’s storage system are bolt free.

Dalepak’s newly equipped facility operates 7 days a week, and is serving multiple clients including Molton Brown and Whittard of Chelsea.
