The latest commercial aircraft order and delivery data released by aerospace organisation ADS Group shows a record 35% increase on Q1 in 2011, and 7.5% more than the same period last year.
The figures reveal that 302 single-aisle and widebody aircraft were delivered in the first three months of the year, putting the global industry in a strong position for the rest of 2014.
Analysts also predict order backlogs standing at 11,318 aircraft and 20,202 engines will continue to grow as orders continue through the course of the year, accounting for around nine year’s work for UK companies.
Paul Everitt, chief executive of ADS Group, described the figures as “significant” for UK growth in the global aerospace sector.
“Aerospace manufacturers are working hard to respond to the current and projected future increase in demand,” he said.
“The Aerospace Industrial Strategy and the work of the Aerospace Growth Partnership is helping to secure investment in technology, skills and facilities to improve efficiency and access opportunities in markets around the world.”
By 2032 it is estimated that more than 29,000 new large civil airliners, 24,000 business jets, 5,800 regional aircraft and 40,000 helicopters will be required, a potential market share of around $600bn for the UK.C
