Record year for Yorkshire textile manufacturer

Posted on 6 Aug 2014 by The Manufacturer

A Yorkshire textile manufacturer which celebrates its anniversary this year has announced record results after expanding sales to 69 countries.

Camira Group, based in Huddersfield, saw revenues increase up to the end of 2013 by 9.3% to £60.1m, as a result of strong sales across Europe, North American and Asia Pacific.

The company, which manufactures interior fabrics used in corporate offices, universities and passenger transport, also saw record profits of £5.3m.

Chairman and chief executive Steve Bullas said: “Every one of our 600 strong workforce has worked extremely hard to contribute to our continued growth and profitability.

“We have remained profitable throughout the recession and saw a very strong final quarter of 2013 which has continued into the first half of 2014.”

Camira sells over 60% of its products overseas and alongside domestic sites in Huddersfield and Nottingham, has a production facility in Lithuania.

The company has now set its sights on the North American market, following the recent move of its US distribution centre from Indianapolis to Grand Rapids, Michigan and the opening of its first showroom in Chicago.
