Sussex-based Vent-Axia, a manufacturer of low-carbon ventilation products has been selected to represent the UK as a National Champion in the European Business Awards.
Vent-Axia beat off stiff competition to be selected as a National Champion in the Infosys Business of the Year Award with a turnover of €26-150m category and the company now joins a host of exemplary UK-based manufacturers selected as National Champions across a range of other categories including Brompton Bicycles, Croda International, Crown Paints and Diamond Manufacturers Ltd.
Britain’s best will go up against other National Champions from across Europe and the winners will be announced on April 14 next year.
Vent-Axia’s decision to double manufacturing capacity at its Crawley plant and re-shore manufacturing from China earlier this year was key to its successful nomination as a National Champion.
The company has invested in British manufacturing, the local economy and community with the launch of two new production assembly lines creating new jobs and allowing the firm to be far more responsive to its UK customer base.
Ronnie George, Vant-Axia’s CEO said he was immensely proud that the firm, which has been making products for the ventilation sector for 75 years, has been recognised for its commitment to quality and community. “It’s an honour to be recognised as one of the leading organisations in our country and in our field,” he said.
To advance in the competition this year, all National Champions have to submit a video entry for viewing and assessment by a judging panel.
In addition, the public will be able to vote online for their favourite National Champion from each country. The business with the most votes becomes ‘National Public Champion’ and one will go on to contest the ‘European Public Champion’ title.
Voting begins in November 2013.
