Return of glitter berry J2O to boost Britvic’s Christmas coffers

Posted on 12 Dec 2012

Soft drinks manufacturer Britvic has re-introduced its limited edition J2O Glitter Berry variant for Christmas after the product helped the brand to its best Christmas in three years in 2011.

The shimmering limited edition has been modernised in line with the rest of the J2O range, has less calories and a slimmer shaped bottle. Glitter Berry is a combination of red grape, cherry and an edible gold glitter that sparkles once the bottle is shaken.

People are often willing to spend on affordable luxuries for in-home socialising in the lead up to and throughout the festive season.

Britvic’s upmarket drinks attracted an additional 1.2 million customers in 2011 with the full J2O range achieving 11% growth.

The drinks maker, which tied with Irn –Bru maker Barr in a £1.4bn merger in November, attributes part of the brand’s success to the Glitter Berry limited edition, which was sold into over 720,000 households.

After a turbulent year for Britvic, which experienced a 20% fall in profits after a costly recall and re-design of Fruit Shoot bottles, it invested in four weeks worth of TV advertising this Christmas with its J2O Cats and Dogs advert currently being aired.
