Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced that Frank Ludwig has joined the company as director of manufacturing.

In his previous role Mr Ludwig, 42, was director, Painted Body for BMW in Leipzig, Germany.

Mr Ludwig joined BMW in 2002 as general manager, manufacturing for body-in-white, at MINI in Oxford and is an experienced production and general manager. Before starting at BMW, he worked for a small premium car company in Germany. Ludwig replaces Jörg Bause, who leaves Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to take up a senior position at BMW South Africa.

“I am delighted to welcome Frank to Rolls-Royce and to his new position heading the manufacturing team here at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “With his extensive experience, I am confident that he is ideally suited to further develop on the impressive results that have been achieved by Jörg Bause over the past three years.”

Ludwig joins Rolls-Royce during an exciting time for the marque. The company launched its next model, Wraith at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Wraith is currently in pre-production and customer deliveries will begin in the last quarter of this year.
