SABMiller sees satisfactory sales

SABMiller, maker of Peroni, Carling Black Label and Miller Lite, has been experiencing satisfactory sales growth, despite rising costs and bad weather which have been hampering the beer industry.

Organic growth in lager volumes increased by 7 per cent in the year to 31 March, compared to 9 per cent in the nine months to December, while European sales grew by 8 per cent in the last quarter.

Price rises have been a major factor restricting sales growth for SABMiller, which has been forced to charge more for its products to account for the surging costs of raw materials.
