Family-owned Scottish ice cream makers, Jannettas, have teamed up with Dundee & Angus College to create two specially tailored training courses for its staff.
In a first for the College’s Hospitality, Retail and Tourism department, the training provider has delivered a bespoke training course for an individual business. The course aims to inform Jannettas staff in the latest technologies and methods to enhance and advance the company’s product range, including semi-frozen desserts such as ice-cream gateaux, meringues and lolly pops.
Albert Close, chief lecturer at Dundee & Angus College said the course was specially designed around the needs of Jannettas and that the company should be applauded for striving to improve.
“From our perspective, we want to build closer links in what is a fast-moving hospitality industry to help bridge the gap between the student and the workplace, so the opportunity to work with a local business and identify their training needs provides us with a great template for doing the same with others, while also arming our students with up-to-date knowledge,” said Mr Close.
Current and future students will also benefit because, by working so closely with industry, College tutors can use their industry insight to tailor future courses. On a practical level, a small group of students will also be assisting in the training, giving them the chance to network and build on their knowledge.
Owen Hazel, co-owner of Jannettas Gelateria said: “Albert invested lots of time getting to know our business needs and the skillset of our core team prior to creating this bespoke course. As a result, the course will not only enhance what we already deliver but bring new techniques to the table, enhancing the skills of individual members of staff as they develop not only their careers, but the sheer passion for what they do.
“At the end of the day, our focus is on customer satisfaction, ensuring an unforgettable Jannettas experience for everyone, and I’m sure this course and our ongoing relationship with Dundee and Angus College will ensure that the high standard for which we are known continues.”
